Scunthorpe United miss out on award

​SCUNTHORPE United suffered a double dose of frustration in the Football League's monthly awards today.

Boss Nigel Adkins missed out on the manager of the month award, despite being in charge of the club to boast the best points per game average throughout January.

Instead the honour went to Sheffield Wednesday chief Alan Irvine, whose side were beaten 2-0 at Glanford Park a fortnight ago.

United also missed out on the player of the month accolade, with Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam picked ahead of Garry Thompson, Peter Whittingham and Nottingham Forest's Chris Cohen.
