AUDIO: Managers' reaction to Crystal Palace's late winner against Scunthorpe United

Saturday, February 06, 2010, 18:06

SCUNTHORPE United manager Nigel Adkins bemoaned his side's lack of a clinical edge in the first half of their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Iron had dominated the opening 45 minutes at Glanford Park, only to lose 2-1 as a result of Neil Danns' cruel 93rd-minute winner for the Eagles.

"At the end of the day we've got to rue the chances that we missed in the first half," a disappointed Adkins admited.

"The game should have been out of sight by then.

"I thought we gave ourselves some good oppotunities in the first half but we didn't capitalise on them."

In contrast, Palace boss Neil Warnock was delighted to take all three points from the game. He agreed that United had been the better side in the first half.

"I thought they (Scunthorpe) were better than us in the first half," Warnock admitted.

"I didn't think we stood up to them, we were what I would have called 'southern softies' in the olden days when I was up north.

"But we hung in there and in the second half we said, 'you've get your breath, you've got your legs going now' and we felt we could win it.

"The equaliser has done us a little bit but it should have been all over by then anyhow."
