Nikolaidis provides right tonic to make Hospital Cup final

Wednesday, March 10, 2010, 06:30

ALL seven cup final line-ups in the TSW Printers Saturday Football League have now been decided.

Scunthonians will have two chances to win some silverware after making it to the final of the Dave Rylatt Motors Hospital Cup with a 2-1 win against Barton Town Old Boys Reserves.

An early goal from Jim Martin was soon cancelled out by a Lee Everitt strike for Barton.

Vas Nikolaidis had Scunthonians back in the lead before the break and the home side managed to keep Barton out for the second half to hold on for the victory.

Awaiting them in the final of the Hospital Cup are reigning Division One champions AFC Brumby, who they will also face in the final of the TSW Printers Challenge Cup.

Brumby beat Limestone Rangers 3-2 in their Hospital Cup semi-final.

Goals from McCarthy and Snowden put Brumby 2-0 ahead in the first half but Limestone hit back to level in the second.

A second goal from McCarthy sealed the win for Brumby, booking them their spot in their fifth cup final of the season.

AFC Brumby Reserves are in the final of the Henwards Finance Barton Brotherhood Cup after edging past Epworth Town Reserves 2-1 in the semi-finals.

In the final they will face Crosby Colts Reserves, who needed a penalty shootout to squeeze past Barnetby United after a 1-1 stalemate following extra-time.

Barrow Wanderers will face runaway Division Three champions Revision in the final of the Johnsons Transport Ironstone Cup thanks to a 5-1 win against Luddington.

Revision made similarly short work of Crosby Colts Juniors, Moran scoring twice in a 4-1 win to book their place in the final.

The MAC Auto Valeting Red Cross Cup final will pit Auld South Yorkshire against AFC Blades.

Auld South narrowly beat Men's Health 1-0, with Rusling scoring the winning goal, and Blades comfortably beat Limestone Reserves 4-0.

The most important result in the league came in Division Four, where leaders Barton Town Colts moved a step closer to the title with a 7-1 thrashing of Parkwood Athletic.
