Brumby book spot in county cup final
The Scunthorpe side were beaten 3-1 by Swineshead Institute in the showpiece last year, but are now just one match away from avenging that defeat.
A hugely competitive first half at Quibell Park saw Brumby edge ahead through a goal from Sean Singh.
And after the break, the home side soon doubled their lead through Tom Finnigan.
Friendship refused to give in and got a reward for their hard work when they pulled a goal back.
But with 10 minutes remaining, Simon Roach scored Brumby's third and the reigning Scunthorpe and District Saturday League champions held on for victory.
Brumby will now meet Grimsby side Waltham Tea Gardens in the final.
Crosby Colts Reserves and College Wanderers will meet in the final of the Johnstone Insurance Nursing Cup after winning their respective semi-final clashes.
Crosby were pushed all the way by Barnetby United in their match – a clash between division two's current top two sides – needing extra-time to win 4-3.
D Lowther and C Lowther put Crosby 2-0 up against the division two leaders and they kept Barnetby out for the remainder of the first half.
But Barnetby pulled level after the break thanks to goals from Hill and Carter to force extra-time.
The visitors looked to have completed a remarkable recovery when they then went 3-2 ahead through Dowse.
But Crosby rallied and equalised through Blake before, with just three minutes remaining, Gilliatt snatched the win.
College's path to the final was far smoother as they beat division two mid-table rivals Jailhouse 4-1.
Two goals in the first half from Holmes and a Grimbleby brace after the break earned them the win.
Jailhouse did grab a late consolation, but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback.
While AFC Brumby were booking their place in the Junior Cup final, their division one title rivals Barton Town Reserves and Limestone Rangers took advantage to push ahead of them in the table.
Barton are top and five points ahead of Brumby while Limestone are a point behind the leaders, though both sides have played four more games.
Barton Reserves beat fifth-placed Epworth Town 4-2, with a brace from Lacey and one apiece from Everett and Mation in the second half doing the damage.
Limestone triumphed by the same score against bottom-of-the-table Crosby Colts.
Division three leaders Revision continued their fantastic season, making it 12 wins from 12 to stay 12 points clear at the top of the table with a 6-0 win against Briggensians.
Barton Town Colts maintained their five-point lead at the summit of division four thanks to an emphatic 8-0 thrashing of Men's Health.
Longstone was responsible for half of his side's impressive haul.
Sean Singh was on target for Brumby.
